Our Master bedroom is finally closer to the finished product, and already it’s been transformed. Here it is, a glimpse at our master bedroom makeover. A place where the heaviness of the day, just fades to the background. It’s cold, yet cozy. Silent yet full of life. In this room, I often find myself daydreaming (and literally, dreaming), planning my life, solving the world’s problems and talking to God. My little piece of heaven. Where my heart is full, my breaths calmer, my soul at peace, and I know that everything in the world is right.
Here is a before and after of our master bedroom along with shopping details and the goal list I created when we moved in.
FROM YELLOW TO GREY
The yellow room is before we bought the house. The color of the walls although bright, lively and happy didn’t go well with our furniture, and the colors I had in mind. We painted the walls a dark gray because I wanted the room to feel cozy and comfy. Our latest addition the bed has been my favorite part of this room. I love it! It’s super comfy. The dogs love the Tempurpedic mattress and cozy blankets. Technically we bought the dogs a new bed because they hog all of it. We literally sleep on the edges of the bed. So technically the bed is not ours. God help us when we have kids. (See what I mean at the bottom of the post).
MASTER BEDROOM DETAILS
I get a lot of ideas of my decorating ideas from here. It is a great website with photos and product references.
- King size bed is from Bassett Furniture. Here is the exact one.
- Night Stands are from our previous bed set. They are from Broyhill.
- Aqua blue bed set is from Pier one. We bought ours a long time ago so it may no longer be available but here is a similar one from Pier 1.
- The sitting chairs are from Target (I believe). We’ve had them for so long but I’ve always loved Target furniture so I am thinking that’s where we bought them.
- The lamps are from Homegoods.
- Curtains are from Bed Bath & Beyond. Find the exact ones here.
- Picture frames are from Ikea.

CHECKING OFF THE LIST
So far we’ve completed 60% of our checklist. Rooms take time. Patience is critical because with every new piece each room evolves. Patience is not my strong suit, and I wanted it all yesterday; this is something I am working on improving. This room took us about a year to change but we are happy with the results.
BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS
Before. The room when we moved in. Spacious with lots of lighting but very yellow.
Progress. This was our queen sized bed. We wanted a King size because like I mentioned before our dogs are bed hogs.
Updated progress. Finally a King size bed for our dogs, I mean for us. We kept the nightstand from our previous bed set, which went well with the new tufted bed. Slowly but surely we added the window treatments and bought a new bed set. This room’s décor is simple, but I didn’t want to clutter the walls with pictures or décor items. The cleanliness of it is what I like most.

What room have you transformed that has made a big difference in your house?
When I say it’s the dogs’ bed, this is what I mean. Their life is so ruff, but someone’s gotta do it….. aka, SPOILED!!!
