HELLO WIESBADEN GERMANY
The last weekend of September, we had the Stadtfestival in Wiesbaden Germany and boy was it everything my little heart dreamed of.
The Stadtfestival is a yearly celebration of the end of summer and beginning of fall. It coincided with the fall market, the harvest festival, the automobile exhibition, and many other attractions. It all happened in the beautiful market square that Wiesbaden is so well known for. There were concerts and small little bands playing everywhere. The vendors offered fresh veggies, beautiful flowers, all kinds of organic meats, coffee, teas, spices, treats, sweets, freshly baked bread and so much more. It was so colorful and full of life. Everyone was out and about with family chatting and smiling and having a great time. It was so refreshing. The weather was high 60s low 70s. A bit chilly for me in the beginning but as I kept walking I got hot. I started in a sweater but ended up with a t-shirt. Overall the weather was beautiful.
As we walked around I couldn’t help myself but smile from ear to ear. “Wow, I can’t believe we live here!” I kept saying to myself. It was a culture shock, from the buildings to the people. The culture is completely different in Europe. I can already tell they are more relaxed and appreciate the little things in life (which I appreciate).
From what I’ve learned so far about Germany, they really like festivals and socializing. This means there are many more festivals on the calendar for the rest of the year and that doesn’t include the famous Christmas Markets. Which means there are many more festivals and delicious wine in my future, which I am whole heartedly excited to experience.
I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves. Cheers to the Stadtfest and many more festivals!
